“So there I was, standing in front of a room full of people completely naked …”

That dream again, huh? But what does it really mean?

If you’ve got a curious, recurring, or simply bizarre sleep-inspired story to share, local dream interpreter L.J. Hunt wants to hear it.

Hunt will be at Traverse City’s Shoreline Center for Healing – this Wednesday, Nov. 28, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. – for a dream interpretation event.

Jeff and Heather Campbell opened Shoreline Center For Healing in Old Town in March 2011. In addition to offering acupuncture treatments and dietary/nutritional services, they also host events exploring all avenues for healing – everything from a writing workshop to a presentation about angels and spiritual guides.

“This is just another vehicle,” says Jeff Campbell of the dream interpretation workshop.

Hunt has been interpreting dreams since the 1970s. “You can’t get a degree in it,” she says. “I’m self taught … and a big dreamer myself.”

She does, however, point to a series of dreams she started having in 1979 about dead people as pivotal in her dream interpreting work. “They were very clear, very vivid,” she says. These “visitation” dreams led Hunt to dream work with grief/loss groups and hospice.

She then started conducting dream groups around the area and ran 100 such groups annually, including work in rehabilitative settings, for a decade.

Dreams are the “most insightful tool for getting to know your self and your direction,” says Hunt. “Every dream is an aspect of you and everything is current.”

When performing dream interpretations, Hunt says her mind quickly “goes to pictures,” a critical aspect of understanding what the dream is saying.

“I’ve been accused of being psychic, but I’m getting all my information from the dream,” she adds.

Hunt will begin her presentation on Wednesday with a ”dream FAQ,” discussing the different types of dreams, the most common dreams and what they symbolize. She will then open up the floor to dream sharing and interpreting.

So, The Ticker wondered, what are the most common dreams, and what do they reveal about us? Hunt provides this brief list:

Falling dreams: out of control somewhere in your life and it’s reaching the danger point
Flying dreams: rising above a problem, something good happening
Naked in public dreams: vulnerable, trying to cover something up, not feeling like you can be yourself
