Thursday, November 1, NMC's Dennos Museum Center presents its next Community Cinema event: a screening of the documentary Solar Mamas. The film focuses on Rafea, a 30-year-old Jordanian mother of four, who travels outside of her village for the first time to attend a solar-engineering program at India’s Barefoot College. She joins poor women like her from Guatemala, Kenya, Burkina Faso, and Colombia to learn concrete skills to change their communities. The film will be shown with captions, and there will be a sign language interpreter for the post-film panel discussion. The film starts at 7:00 pm at the Dennos Museum Center; admission is free of charge. See upcoming dates for Community Cinema films here.
