You might recall from our recent Ticker about Sleder's 130th birthday/fundraiser that proceeds from the weekend-long celebration were earmarked for local families in the Women’s Caring Program, which gifts disadvantaged area children with scholarships for early education and care. Yesterday, Brian and Deb Cairns, owners of Sleder’s Family Tavern and the brains behind the charitable bash, presented the Women’s Caring Program with a check for $23,000. Credit the Cairns, the 60 golfers who sold out the fundraising scramble, and the 330 people who turned out for Sleder's party – their contributions totaled more than any of the other WCP twilight gathering fundraisers held in the entire state this year and helped 14 local families.
