Traverse City police arrested a suspect after several thefts downtown: At the Critters Clothing store at 208 East Front, the store's video confirmed a suspect had taken a stuffed animal from the shelf, concealed the item and left the store. A description of the suspect was obtained, police searched the downtown area and located the suspect walking near the intersection of Front Street and Pine Street. The stuffed animal stolen from Critters was located in a backpack the suspect had, as well as eight confirmed stolen items and several other items believed to be stolen from area businesses. The suspect, an 18-year-old Traverse City man, was arrested and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail for retail fraud.
