After more than two years of research and almost $12,000, the History Center of Traverse City is ready to release the restored version of 1940 film We’re In The Movies, which captures the businesses, hair styles, trains, cars, planes, horses, clothing and people of Traverse City in 1940. You can see the restored 45-minute film on the big screen at the State Theater on Saturday, September 8 at 4:00 p.m. as a highlight of the History Center’s Heritage Days events, which start Saturday at 10 a.m. The America's Got Talent of its era, the 45-minute film hinges on a storyline where Traverse City people competed to be the next big Hollywood star. Following the premiere, the History Center will sell DVDs of the film. A bonus track on the DVD includes a short, restored amatuer film of the 1939 Cherry Festival.
