Patriot Game Raises $9,000 for Care Packages

Nearly $9,000 was raised at the first annual Patriot Game as a part of last Friday's Traverse City Central/West high school football game. As a result, hundreds of area service men and women will receive care packages from Operation American Soldier. The game included the sale of t-shirts as fundraisers and a tribute to veterans and to thirteen northern Michigan soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The remaining shirts will be sold during the Central football homecoming game this Saturday. Organizers say they hope to make the Patriot Game an annual event.

My Grandaughter, Brandee Gibson is a Marine (just turned 20).Her Birthday was celebrated on the USS Enterprise! She has been deployed since February. The Enterprise is going to be Decommisioned when she gets home!! She is flying into the Traverse City Airport on Election day!! My Husband, Richie Antol says "No one cares about our service men and women!" Unless they are dead!!" I said, I hope every one in Traverse City, cares about our Heros that don't come home in coffins!! Can we rally around a female Marine? Aviation Ordnance?

Thank you Traverse City for all you do to support our troops. This is what America is all about!
