Panera Coming to TC?

Panera Coming to TC?

A trusted source tells The Ticker that an agent affiliated with the Panera Bread chain paid a visit to Traverse City. The mission: to look at locations for a possible Panera eatery ... or two. Word is, the agent scouted two locations: one along U.S. 31 and the other east of downtown TC. Last February, the Traverse City Business News featured a restaurant survey in which more than 200 readers were polled. When asked “What restaurants do we need in this area?” most respondents suggested national and regional chains. Panera topped the readers' want list. Would you like to see a Panera open in TC? If so, where? Please comment below!

We really could use one in Gaylord, right along the expressway.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! I would love to see Panera come to T.C. or a surrounding area! I wouldn't have to wait till I have to go to Grand Rapids. They have delicious food!! I love that place!!

Panera in TC would be great! I wish that people were more open to another great restaurant that will give us locals more choices as to where to eat. More competition only ensures that everyone else is bringing forward their best product. It's capitalism people, and it's what moves our economy forward! Plus, Panera is a great quick healthy lunch spot choice, and we really don't have very many of those in TC. I say bring it on!!

Yes, definitely!! Our family loves Panera and we would love to see it, that's not to say we are big chain lovers we are big patrons of all our local eateries and enjoy them much more then the chains that are in our area but when we go out of town we know what we're getting with Panera and trust that we will be fed well and satisfied. Location wise I would like to see them more on the east side of town versus the west.

Some of these comments are crazy, any new business MUST be welcomed, they generate jobs, tax revenue etc. Many of these "chains" are owned by people, and many restaurants create 40-50 new jobs. Hurry up Panera and all new businesses!

The Grand Traverse Area has such wonderful privately owned bakeries. Why jeopardize them by bringing Panera Bread to our area. While Panera Bread is a wonderful restaurant I do not think we need it here. Try some bread from oe of our local bakeries or go to one of our restaurants for a great lunch. Visit Panera Bread when you go downstate for a visit.

Like so many others I wish it was possible to keep our city exactly as we found it but what do we do to keep our young here? My son loves this town but must leave in order to find a job.At least these "chain" restaurants offer them a job, any job.Are you saying that none of you eat at Olive Garden? Nightly crowds say the opposite.
We need jobs in Traverse or all our kids will leave. People have to have a reason to say and we aren't offering that..any new business should be welcomned

Would love a Panara Bread near on 31 near Holiday Rd. in East Bay Twp.! Panara has good breads and breakfasts/lunches. There are no bakeries with restaurants on this side of town. Others will survive because each has its own good qualities-we shop them all.

No thank you. We have enough chain restaurants as it is. Support our wonderful local bakeries and restaurants. I agree with a previous comment, Go downstate to eat at Panera!

I generally do not care for chains. But I discovered Panera three years ago in Springfield, Illinois and then found it again in Dallas, and I think it is wonderful. It would, after all, hire local people, so it would not hurt our labor force. And I suspect that Traverse City people, overall pretty sharp folks with sophisticated taste, would really love the outstanding food.
