An urban garden-farm learning project is launching in Traverse City this spring. The LLOOF (Learning Local on Organic Farms) project is a 30-week program for students to learn the ins and outs of how to be a successful urban garden farmer. The project is organized by Little Artshram along with O'k CSA and Market Garden in Traverse City. Students will run a neighborhood CSA, earn a permaculture certificate and work with practitioners and sites around the city. Curriculum includes design and budgeting, soil fertility, harvesting and preservation, composting and animal husbandry. The project runs May 6 through November 13. Applications being accepted now.
