Thanks to more than 120 donors, a $25,000 challenge match by the Traverse City Track Club crossed the finish line. Construction of the next four-mile segment of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail – from the Dune Climb to Empire – is on tap for this year. The trail campaign needed to raise $200,000 in all to begin construction. Bonus: Because the match was raised by the December 31 deadline, the club topped it off with an additional $5,000 gift. Fundraising for the connection from Glen Arbor to Port Oneida continues.
