Traverse City Police responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street on the report of a hit and run accident on July 12. Upon arrival officers spoke to witnesses who stated a male suspect had attended a party earlier at the residence but was asked to leave due to his behavior. The witnesses were outside the residence later and observed the suspect drive a silver Audi into the driveway, striking another vehicle. The suspect then backed out of the driveway and stopped to speak briefly to the witnesses, then left the area. Both witnesses believed the suspect to be highly intoxicated. Officers located the suspect at a residence in Garfield Township. He was interviewed and arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, operating a vehicle intoxicated, and probation-violation charges. He is a 28-year-old man from Traverse City.
