At 8:49 p.m. on July 1, deputies from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in Whitewater Township on report of a break-in in progress. The residence's alarm company also alerted deputies that the home's alarm had gone off. When deputies arrived, they observed a subject in the residence destroying items. When they attempted to arrest the subject, he fled the residence on foot and was arrested with the assistance of a Police K-9. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident. The suspect a 23-year-old Grawn man was lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail for home invasion second degree, malicious destruction of property over $20,000, resisting and obstructing, and a probation violation. The incident is still under investigation.
