Historic Barns Park Seeks Input

The City of Traverse City and Charter Township of Garfield Recreational Authority are now accepting letters of interest and public comment pertaining to two resources at the Historic Barns Park at the Grand Traverse Commons: the Community Gardens and the Historic Barn (Building 206). First, officials are looking for a community organization to oversee the garden plots for the 2013 season and beyond. Second, officials are seeking input from citizens and community organizations on potential viable and sustainable uses for the Historic Barn. All interested parties are encouraged to contact the Authority for more info, 929.3696.

How about a year-round farmer's market.

Readers should know that the larger, newer barn (Cathedral Barn) will be renovated and used for community activities and weddings. The Recreational Authority is seeking proposals for the older barn, as pictured. It will be very expensive. My proposal is wait until the other barn is renovated and the other activities on the site have stabilized

I agree. Weddings and other banquet/family/community functions.

I agree with Ann. I have always said it would be nice to rent for Weddings or family functions. Also it would be a nice place for a small park. I have not been inside either. Wish they would have another open house of it.

I've never been in side the barns, but they are very beautiful from the outside. It could be a restored and used for functions such as weddings, etc?
