Traverse City police have reported two incidents of note from Halloween night: Around 11 p.m. officers responded to a report of a person damaging a motor vehicle in the parking lot of the McDonald’s in the 700 block of East Front Street. The victim told police he had arrived in his car at McDonalds with his son and was approached by a male who asked the victim for money. The victim declined to give the suspect money, but after they walked inside the restaurant a witness came inside stating a person was kicking the victim’s car. The victim went outside to find a flat tire on his car and dents on the side of the car. The suspect, a 35-year-old man from Traverse City, was located a short distance away and was identified by the witness and the victim. He was arrested for malicious destruction of property and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail.
Underage Drinking Party
Traverse City police are seeking warrants on two suspects following a large underage drinking party at a residence in the 1500 block of East Front Street. Upon arrival officers located and cited 15 people that were consuming alcohol and were under 21 years old. A 23-year-old male resident and a 19-year-old female resident were identified as the party's hosts; warrant requests are being sent to the prosecutor’s office requesting charges on these individuals.
Regarding the homeless man kicks car. This was at 9:00 at night not at 11:00. The homeless mans name is Shenandoah Hawkins. The victim in this will never receive any payment for the damage to his car, buying a tire and paying a tow truck. So
not only is it a violent crime but costly for the victim. When the homeless man is charged he will never pay the fines. I am sickened that you can not safely go to McDonalds at 9:00 at night in Traverse City. Our little city is changing.
