GT County Deputy Terminated After Arrest, Investigation

Grand Traverse County Sheriff Deputy Ryan Salisbury, who was arrested December 6 by Traverse City Police for alleged assault inside a downtown bar while off duty, has been terminated. A statement issued by the Sheriff's Department said, "Because of Deputy Salisbury’s actions on December 6, 2012 and December 7, 2012, which were in violation of General Orders of the Sheriff’s Office, we feel that the separation from employment was appropriate. Because of expected future dispute resolution regarding the termination of employment, at this time, we do not have any further comment."

BOB, YES, you made your point---but are they listening?
I would agree that they get passes whe we would not...but I don't 100% believe they should be held to a [higher] standard....just the same damn one WE are held to, ALONG with the SAME PUNISHMENT that goes with it.
ARE YOU LISTENING MR PROSECUTER, SOFERDINE, AND ALL THE REST OF THE ROUGE COPS WHO "ENFORCE" LAWS?????????
They are a joke at best.

I feel hi is innocent until proven guilty and he admitted he did wrong so he should accept punishment. It appears this happened more than once. Police should be held to a higher level as they are supposed to be our enforcers of peace but they seem to get an awful lot of passes when they commit things we would get a more severe punishment. Remember Sofferedene's drunk driving crash? I could go on but I think I made my point.

If it wasn;t for the continued misconduct by police at this location on Union Street, there would be no need for street camera's and business owner vigilance! The House of Dogs has a good cause to have a menu item named "The Loud Drunken Cop Dog!"

I know how that goes. When my daughter was assaulted by a man she had the misfortune of dating and treated very badly he appealed all the way. His Mom hired an attorney for him, too. Even though he was very wrong. Even though he broke into my house and was never caught. Even though he uses drugs heavily. He doesn't get caught.

The fact that he is going to appeal his firing for [commiting a crime], simply shows the level of his integrity, rather lack thereof! Mr. Bensley did absolutely the right thing. If Mr. Salsberry thinks he is "above" the law, then let him prove it with his attorney and the union. If he gets his job back, not only will it be a travesty of the so called justice in G.T. County, but will also PROVE that unions are worthless.
