Great, another chain store. TC is going to look just like everytown USA.

This pharmacy will not hurt any other pharmacies as long as you continue to be loyal to them. The thought of shutting down the "mom and pop" pharmacies is a non-issue. They are working on fixing the traffic problem, did you all even read the article in its entirety? Or did you just read the title and begin to throw childish tantrums?

If they allow the CVS, all the business traffic on the corner should not be able to cross traffic to enter or exit. I have seen the most accidents on this corner when someone tries to cross the oncoming traffic. Right turns only.

Despite the beauty of our area, TC is turning into a mess-too much traffic, no ability to turn onto busy roads safely, too much hype, and the loss of the Up North persona that drew us all here. CVS on the corner of downtown will add to the downstate feeling

We already have enough pharmacies, the answer is not another building on a busy corner. Clean up the property and keep it vacant - why can't we have something that is a little more open on this street.

This is the largest mistake the city has made in recent months. It is almost impossible to get traffic through downtown now. Another reason small nusiness in the area will not get anymore of my business. That whole side of town is another cluster.

Am I the only one that remembers CVS when they were on Front St. in the heart of downtown? I personally am thankful that someone with $$$ can and will do something with that eye sore of a corner. Regardless of what people might think, TC will never be a small quiet town again. Too many people have come to visit and decided to move in. We welcomed them. Welcome to CVS and those that they will employ. You will not increase the traffic with your existance, you will just give competition to the 4 Walgreens, 4 Rite-aids and the soon to be 2 Meijer that we already have.

I am amazed at the egos of people trying to dictate what should or should not be built on that corner. What ever happened to property rights. If you don't want another drug store, but the property.

The city should have demanded that the present owner of the property maintain the building, raise it, and be responsible for the clean up of the site. This is what has brought us to today.

another intersection I'll avoid ... causing more traffic through neighborhoods.

How long has this site been vacant 15-20 years? It's about time that ANY company wants to deal with all the problems this corner brings to them.

WWGD ( What Would Gaia Do)- With her 'grand vision' there would be a bicycling dog park with a sorely needed WIFIed espresso emporium and whole wheat hiking boot store.

Could be worse. Could be another ugly surgery center.

Hah! Does anyone doubt that the busy-bodies complaining about the CVS will turn around and patron the store once it opens? No doubt they would thwart CVS and put in some affordable housing at the taxpayers' expense if they had their way.

When is the city going to address the traffic issues on this corner. They blew it when they allowed the medical building on the south west corner, now they appear ready to develop the only open property to help alleviate the problem. Now to fix the issue they will have to eliminate an existing business or put in a fly over or dig a trench, which would be problematic due to the high water table.

Let's be accurate about CVS: it is a huge (13,500 sq ft!) CONVENIENCE store with a pharmacy as part of it. Just look at a CVS weekly flyer - it is front and back about beer and wine specials!!!! Why do we need a suburban, auto-centric development (drive-thru window, 56! parking spaces) in downtown TC?!?

The Planning Commission did not do their job on this one. They should have demanded that CVS respect all the work and vision that has been done (in the last 2 years specifically) with trying to find a solution that would make Division St. work for all users, not just combustion vehicles. Why didn't the Planning Commission demand they respect the future need for a Roundabout that could make the intersection work for trucks, autos, pedestrians, and bicyclists?

A hotel on that corner, who would stay there. The noise would be so loud.

The environmental concerns are important; however, this Pharmacy that will "create" jobs will also cost jobs. Good luck to the small businesses that are locally, and family owned. The Medicine Shoppe, Thompsons, Petertyl, all have enough struggles to survive with taxation and competition with big-name pharmacies like Walgreens and Rite-Aid. It appears to me the financial "way-out" to improve the looks of this corner, are more important than the damage this will to to our committed, hard-working, local business owners. SAD.

#4 (Dave) is right on!! M37 should NOT go through the middle of this busy town, rerouting it is the only solution to provide safety for our residents and visitors. Guess its time to throw out those who again and again vote against this simple solution. When our representatives vote against what is best for the public, GET RID OF THEM!!!

How about a beautiful small hotel/motel? We don't need more "drugs" i.e. pharmacies in this town!

Great! The C.C. is so predictable. What's next? Maybe they will change once the tourist stop coming. As far as Division street goes, we have done multiple studies of the road over several years and now they pass a resolution to do something? The C.C. Needs to act on the proposals made by the steering committee. Where is the leadership?

Well, this is a sad day indeed. Another pharmacy is NOT needed, especially at that corner. Even though I live outside city limits, I work at Munson and risk my life every day to get there and home safe again. This pharmacy will just add to the DANGER on DIVISION.

Did anyone consider how this development could hurt Peterty Drugs a "full service" Pharmacy right up the street on Front Street? A long time business who has supported Downtown TC for years. I personally will boycott CVS for this main reason. I am tired of seeing chains hurt family owned businesses. The corner does not need pharmacy! |
