On Monday, October 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on M-37 south near Norton Road. Information gathered from the scene indicated a northbound pickup truck operated by Zachery Charles Boyer, a 22-year-old Manton man, had crossed the centerline and struck a southbound semi truck hauling bees. The southbound semi truck was occupied by two males. The passenger of the semi truck was able to make it out of the vehicle after the crash and was treated for injuries at the scene. The semi-truck driver, Jeremy Stephen Jelinek, a 27-year-old Suttons Bay man, and Boyer were pronounced deceased at the scene. The roadway was closed for approximately six hours. The incident is still under investigation.
