Comedy Arts Fest Called "Smashing Success"

Organizers of the 2013 Traverse City Winter Comedy Arts Festival say the four-day celebration over President's Day weekend saw 16,000 admissions indoors and outdoor crowds (skating, riding the Ferris wheel and cheering for dogs pulling heavy sleds), that "far exceeded the festival's wildest expectations" for the first-ever collaboration between the TC Film Fest and the National Cherry Festival. Aside from the 50-plus comedians – including Dick Gregory, Kathleen Madigan and Colin Quinn – and filmmakers that took the stage, here are a few other highlights:

-- $1,300 raised at the Cherry Pancake Breakfast benefitting the Fresh Food Partnership
-- Soup'r Bowl Blue Ribbon: Aerie Restaurant's Chicken Chipotle
-- Best Hot Chocolate: Good Harbor's Cream Milk Hot Chocolate & GT Pie's Banana Cream Pie Hot Chocolate (tie)
-- Best Window Displays: Cherry Republic (1st), Sweet Pea (2nd) and Toy Harbor (3rd)
