Boat Brawl

Traverse City police on Saturday responded to the boat launch on the Boardman River near Park Street on the report of an assault. Upon arrival, a 48-year-old TC man stated he had been attempting to launch his boat when the suspect got off a boat swearing and then struck him several times. The suspect stated the victim was taking too long to launch his boat and this had angered him. The suspect, a 33-year-old TC man, was over the limit to operate a watercraft legally, arrested for operating a watercraft while intoxicated and lodged in the Grand Traverse County Jail. The victim declined to press charges for the assault.

Do not group all boaters as boozers or relate then to this incident, there are more Marine patrols than ever.
Bad drivers cause accidents-outlaw cars, great logic

one might think from reading this that this is an isolated case. It happens almost every weekend at some boat launch; boaters notoriusly drink and then the 5 oclock time comes and its time for all those boozers to head back to the launch. It actually is a place you can take your chairs and see as entertainment. Unfortunately the police force has been reduced and they don't actively patrol these areas.

Once again someone under the influence of alcohol has lost control of himself, hurt an innocent person and then been arrested. Alcohol should be illegal.
