The Ticker and the National Writers Series are teaming up this season to give you the opportunity to ask a question of your favorite authors - and win a signed book in the process! The week before each National Writers Series event, we'll ask our readers to submit the questions they'd most like to ask of the upcoming author. From your responses, we'll choose our favorite - and ask the author YOUR question, live at the event. The reader whose question is selected will also win a brand new copy of the author's latest book - signed by the author!

Our first contest kicks off this week with upcoming NWS guest Buzz Bissinger, national best-selling author of the critically acclaimed "Friday Night Lights," which sold more than two million copies and was the basis for the hit NBC TV series of the same name. Buzz will be in conversation with guest host and Detroit News columnist Neal Rubin at the City Opera House on Tuesday, March 5, discussing his latest book, "Father's Day," a memoir about raising a special needs son that the New York Times hailed as "impossible to put down." Ticker readers are invited to submit their questions for Buzz by commenting below or on our Facebook page now through Tuesday, March 5 at 3:00 p.m. We'll announce the winner Tuesday shortly after the deadline, then ask Buzz the selected question that evening at the event.
