Rotary Charities of Traverse City has announced a $500,000 challenge grant for the Cowell Family Cancer Center project at Munson Medical Center. The proposed center, so named after a $5 million gift from Traverse City resident Casey Cowell in 2011, is in the early stages of planning but when realized will be a state-of-the-art facility with coordinated cancer services in a patient-friendly environment, according to hospital officials. The Rotary Charities grant would bring charitable support to $13.5 million for the estimated $45 million project. The challenge grant is set up to match every dollar donated beginning now up to $500,000. More information on the project as well as donation information located here.
