Harbor 22 has added to its culinary team Chef Ryan Mateling, the former sous chef at Lulu's Bistro in Bellaire. Mateling trained under esteemed local chefs Michael Peterson and Henry Bisson and was part of the Lulu's Bistro team when the eatery was named Best Gourmet Restaurant in Antrim County in 2010 by readers of Northern Express. Passionate for local, sustainable foods, Mateling will spearhead Harbor 22's new fall menu in October.
Appealing to a wide range of people is a lot more than offering what most every "non-gourmet" restaurants currently offer. Do we need more restaurants that offer still more versions of chicken Caesar salad, mac 'n cheese, pulled pork and pre-fabricated food from a factory in St.Louis. A competent chef can create an appealing menu that is also fresh, healthy and has variety.
